THE family fun day being held in memory of disabled Redditch man Craig Evans is fast approaching.

Organisers says it's a case of all hands on deck as they make their final preparations for the fundraising extravaganza at Arrow Valley Countryside Centre next Saturday.

The event is being held as a tribute to Mr Evans, who died earlier this year but was adamant that any fundraising started for him should continue in his legacy and go towards helping other disabled residents.

However, a generous business is still being sought to sponsor the event so that all proceeds raised from it can go towards the appeal, rather than to cover costs.

Appeal director Jean Leathwaite said they also need the loan of a tannoy system for the day and the help of kind hearted volunteers.

The day, which runs from noon-6pm, promises to be lots of fun for all the family.

It will include a wide variety of stalls, a bouncy castle, face painting, fairground rides and mouth watering refreshments.

There will even be a giant inflatable slide and a sumo wresting contest.

And Little Lou's Craft Supplies in Moons Moat, which will hold a stall at the event, is inviting artistic residents to donate a handmade card to sell for £1 a piece in aid of the appeal.

Proprietor Hayley West said people can drop their cards off at the Bartleet Road store or call her on 529029 for more advice.

Meanwhile, anyone who can help with the fun day is urged to call Mrs Leathwaite on 401782.

Donations to the Craig Evans Appeal can be made to HSBC Bank in Church Green or 17, Corner Lane, Webheath, Redditch.
