WITH a total of 18 victories from 27 games and only seven losses, Bromsgrove Rugby Club had enjoyed their best post war season and the first at the new ground at Finstall Park. Their scoring record was also impressive with 301 against 180 conceded, it was partly due to the captain Stan Lennox.

PLANS for a station or halt in Groveley Lane to transport workers to and from Austin's East Works were being considered. Already special trains ran from New Street to Longbridge, but not to that area of the giant car making plant.

A GALA day was held at Dodford Nursery Children's Holiday Farm to mark the opening of the sixth summer season for country-starved toddlers from Birmingham. Droitwich Winter Gardens was hosting a Dance Parade with tickets from 5/6 (27.5p) to 2/6 (12.5p). Rock Hudson was staring in All That Heaven Allows at Catshill Cinema, and Harris Coaches, also from Catshill, was running an evening blossom tour at 4/- (20p) a head. Bromsgrove String Orchestra meanwhile, conducted by Joseph Stones, was staging a concert at All Saints' Church. Tickets were 2/6.
