FOR those without a David Brent type in their office, the endless routine of the nine to five can sometimes be just too much to take.

But now a Bromsgrove-based company is looking to spice up the dullest of work environments.

Serious Fun Events aims to bring laughter into the workplace by mixing serious objectives with fun.

This three-month-old company organises and runs office parties and provides DIY party packs. This is all designed to help you forget the sound of the printer and the hum of the computer.

David Spier and Mark Todd started Serious Fun Events, which is based in the High Street, back in August.

At 36 and 39 respectively, they share 34 years experience in film, television production and live performance.

"We want to make the office a more enjoyable place to work. A lot of time is spent there, so it may as well be fun," said Mark.

The two old friends worked together in the past doing shows and cabaret acts before starting the business.

David's background is in comedy and juggling. While Mark has been a puppeteer for Spitting Image and the Muppet Show.

Mark said: "The office routine can get people down. We want to help stop that by offering something different into the daily schedule."

The pair chose Bromsgrove because David lives in All Saints Road and also because they believe townsfolk are a lot more welcoming than people living in larger cities, like London.

"The people of Bromsgrove seem to be up for a laugh and welcome our ideas, they are more easy going," said Mark.

Serious Fun Events offers the office partybox, which is a pack full of everything needed to get a party up and running. It is available on the internet.

The box comes in themes, including a casino night and Wild West fancy dress.

The company also specialises in organising corporate and team-building events, where they put together and run a party or day out for the office.

A comedy club for townsfolk is also on the agenda for the New Year. The pair hope the club will give people the chance to show off their acting and writing skills for performances and DVD recordings.
