ON Monday, with her usual kindness, Lady Windsor played hostess to 191 pupils and staff from both Tardebigge day and Sunday schools, when she invited them to tea at Hewell Grange for their annual, eagerly looked forward to treat. The party marched through the park to the mansion where boots were exchanged for slippers in consideration of the polished floors. After a sumptuous tea, games were played, followed by the singing of the national anthem, and each child left clutching bags of sweets, buns and fruits.

THE Bromsgrove Society for the Prosecution of Felons held its annual meeting and dinner at the Dog and Pheasant pub, in Worcester Street. The group's aim was to try to rid society of villains. Members were told they had a healthy bank balance of £42, while outgoings, including rewards for information leading to the arrests of wrongdoers, amounted to a little over £12.

ALBERT Bunce, aged 25, of Blackwell, appeared before Bromsgrove Police Court charged with leading a pony on the footpath near his home. He told the court he had no idea he was breaking the law but was nevertheless fined 1/- (5p) with 5/6 (27.5p) costs.

LIBERAL candidate for the mid-Worcestershire seat at the next general election, Cecil Harmsworth, had come up with a plan to ease the distress being caused to residents in Droitwich by the present economic situation. He was proposing to buy a farm which would be converted into small holdings and let rent free to residents until they were established.

THOSE who thought the pre-Christmas snowstorms had been the worst of the winter's weather had a rude awakening. Last weekend's blizzards had left snow a foot deep in places and many roads were covered in ice, making travel and almost every other outdoor activity, difficult.
