DROITWICH grocer, John Bolton, had his case against the Spa's two canal companies for alleged negligance heard at the Assizes in Worcester. Last May, after considerable rainfall, water from the canals had overflowed into his premises, causing £151 worth of damage. After a two-day trial the jury found in favour of the plaintiff.

THE Worcestershire FA ordered an inquiry into an incident of rowdyism against the referee, Mr Hope, while he was in charge of a match between Droitwich United and Berwick Villa. Officials heard that Droitwich spectators, who it was said "did not care much for Worcester referees," jostled Mr Hope on the Droitwich pitch at half and full-time. The inquiry concluded that two fans be banned and the Droitwich club pay the costs, with a warning that if it happened again the ground would be closed indefinitely.

THERE was good news for townsfolk in Bromsgrove who, in the past, had cause to complain to the urban district council about the failings of ash and night soil collections from their homes. Both services had improved, especially the latter, partly due to a revised collection scheme and also that more privies were now being converted to water closets. Stourbridge Road Schools in Bromsgrove was, after a long delay, now having its sanitary arrangements modernised.

A MOTOR omnibus service connecting Belbroughton with Stourbridge was warmly welcomed in the village. A photographer was on hand on Monday to record the moment when the first of two new handsome 'cars' arrived at the terminus at the Talbot Hotel. Each vehicle was capable of carrying 18 passengers inside and the same number outside. Initially services would run over five days, with eight on Saturdays and four on Sundays.
