There was worry a popular new arts and crafts market may have to close its doors to future craftspeople unless an alternative site could be found. The Bromsgrove Market was at the Dolphin Suite, at the swimming baths, but it was now planned to revert the suite to its original function of a children's swimming pool in the near future. Stallholders displayed items such as pottery, jewellery, soft toys and woodwork. Organisers hoped Bromsgrove Council could find an alternative site.

A Bromsgrove theatre company's plea for help met with an astounding response from local people. An article in the Advertiser/Messenger stated although Avoncroft Theatre Company was there to provide entertainment, the tag of amateur dramatics was putting the public off. The group invited people to go along and see what it did. For its production of Pardon Me Mr Prime Minister, more than 80 people attended the first night, 90 the second and at the weekend people had to be turned away.

Delighted parents were told their year-long battle for action on an accident blackspot had been won. Parents, teachers, children and school governors had been fighting since the summer to stop youngsters playing "Russian roulette" with cars on the western inner relief road and Stourbridge Road junction. Since the High Street had been pedestrianised, the situation had become more dangerous and the school most affected was Parkside Middle School. The county council said transport department staff would carry out new counts before the Easter break and take into account the pedestrianised High Street. It was possible a green man pelican crossing could be installed.
