A female officer was required at the Workhouse, in Bromsgrove, to act as a cook and assistant in house under the direction of the Matron. The salary was £24 a year with board, washing, lodging and uniform, but no beer.

A serious accident happened in Catshill to Mr G H Hawkeswood, a draper of Bromsgrove, who was driving from Stourbridge to Bromsgrove. Mr C J Wheeler, a baker, stopped near the Crown to serve one of his customers and Mr Hawkeswood was driving behind him unaware the vehicle in front was about to stop. He couldn't draw up in time to prevent a collision and the trap collided with the cart. Mr Hawkeswood was thrown violently into the road and sustained severe injuries to his head and face. He was taken into the Crown Inn and attended to by a doctor. He was unconscious for quite a while but was driven home and was recovering well.

A successful concert was held in Finstall Village Hall in aid of funds for Bromsgrove Cottage Hospital. Special credit was due to Mr Taylor for the pretty effect produced by the layout of the stage. The concert included piano solos and songs.

At the police court, William Bertram, of no fixed address, was charged with begging in Worcester Street, Bromsgrove. PC Court proved the case and he was sentenced to seven days' hard labour.

Hanbury Parish Council held its fourth quarterly meeting at the Parish Club, in Carter's Hill. There was acknowledgement of the council's request to Droitwich Rural District Council for a plank to be placed over a road ditch below the Pumphouse Farm. The clerk also reported the receipt of £3 from the secretaries of the cricket and football clubs for one year's rent of the recreation ground.
