High level talks to sort out Bromsgrove fairs' problems ended in a complete deadlock. Feelings had been running high in town since Jones' fair camped out without consent on Bromsgrove's recreation ground car park. Since then, 1,800 signatures had been collected to petition the council to allow spring and summer fairs on the site. The Showman's Guild of Great Britain had hoped that a compromise would be sorted out to allow Mr Jones to run his fair for the remaining three days of his stay. The Guild was to present a list of alternative sites to the July meeting of the council for consideration.

Bromsgrove Swimming Club lost its appeal for an extra hour's pool time, which would've cut their 450 long waiting list by 75. The club had been already offered an extra hour on Friday evenings from 8.30pm to 9.30pm but the late hour restricted the number of children it would benefit. The council's surveyor told the council meting the club did not want to seem ungrateful but wondered if the pool would be available on Thursdays. Cllr Tom Dilkes urged members to give the club the hour they wished but they voted against it, amending the alloted hour.

Angry parents stepped up their protest by a letter campaign to county councillors. Members of Bromsgrove Education Action Group urged parents to write to councillors on the county's education committee protesting about the cuts in spending. At the meeting, George Marsden, chairman of Finstall First School Parents' Association described to members how to set up a PA. Group members said they were impressed by what could be achieved and felt that these associations could provide a way to help schools and increase rapport between staff and parents.

A new day room at Breme House, in Bromsgrove, was officially handed over to the county council. The room, which cost £8,000 to build, was made possible through grants and fundraising. It would provide a welcoming meeting place with craft and leisure activities for Breme House residents and other elderly members of the community referred for day care.
