BROMSGROVE RFC have named former player Ross Baxter as the club's first ever forwards' coach.

Baxter, who played for the Boars in the 2003/2004 season, was the latest piece to fall into place for head coach Iain Hall's new coaching set up.

Bromsgrove's head coach is in the middle of a radical revamp of the coaching set up at the Finstall Park club.

He said: "Ross is eminently qualified for the forwards coach position at Bromsgrove.

"He's an excellent coach and will be a useful part of the team."

Baxter has strong ties to the area. After playing rugby for Bromsgrove School he then went onto play for North Midlands' under-18s.

He worked for five years as a regional development officer and the RFU.

He also coached at Kidderminster and Bromsgrove.

He will begin putting the forwards through their paces when training starts on June 26.

Hall said: "I was looking at a number of candidates but it became apparent that Ross is the man for the job,

"He knows the club, is qualified coach and has a wealth of experience."

Hall is still reshaping the coaching set up at Bromsgrove after the first team finished bottom of the Midlands Division One with no points.

He has already named Owain Sweeting as team manager and Richard Scrivener as the club's first ever fitness coach.

Hall also admitted that the restructuring of the club's coaching set up was not finished.

He said: "I want to add a coach for the backs and then it will be complete. I am building for the future here by putting the proper foundations in place."
