DROITWICH RFC director of rugby Julian Bailey praised new head coach Mark Evans' impact since he joined.

Evans stepped into the breach as the club's top coach after Nick Tisdale quit Spa to play for Midlands Division One side Walsall at the start of October.

However, despite the disruption that follows the introduction of a new coach Bailey feels Evans has settled in quickly.

He said: "There's always going to be a few things which are disrupted when someone leaves and he is replaced.

"But it has been kept down to the minimum. Mark has his own ideas and methods, but he also knows what sort of things the club wants of him and he's done really well."

Evans, who lives in Birmingham, has an excellent pedigree as he plays for National League Division Two side Moseley and is an official community officer for the RFU.

Mid-week coaching sessions at the club had to be changed to Wednesdays because of Evans' busy schedule.

Bailey though does believe it's important that Droitwich have some continuity in the coaching set-up.

Spa are now on their third coach in just over a season.

Tisdale joined Spa from Stourbridge in the summer as head coach, but was struggling to juggle it with other commitments before he was lured away by Walsall.
