A NEW home is desperately needed for depressed Chester, a three-year-old Great Dane cross, who is currently being cared for by a Catshill animal adoption centre.

The Blue Cross, in Wildmoor Lane, is desperate to find the dog a home as kennel life is making him depressed.

Chester was originally found as a stray and was successfully rehomed by The Blue Cross. Sadly, he came back to the centre when his new owners split up and could no longer look after him.

He has now been in kennels for five months and, although staff spend a lot of time playing with him and taking him for walks, Chester is becoming depressed and has wounded his tail from banging it against kennel walls repetitively.

Staff are concerned that prospective owners are being put off by Chester's behaviour in kennels and are keen to find him a home so he can start living the life that he deserves.

Deputy centre manager Sarah Bussell said: "Chester is a lovely dog and he really needs a new chance in a loving and stable home. We would be on hand to offer any new owners on-going support and advice, but Chester will thrive once he is out of kennels. We are looking for the right owners for this great dog and then he will be happy."

New owners need to have experience with dogs and plenty of free time to keep Chester company. He would be able to live with another pet, but in a quiet household.

New owners will also need to continue the training Chester has been receiving at The Blue Cross. All animals leave The Blue Cross having been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and with six weeks' free pet insurance.

Anyone who thinks they can offer Chester a home should call 0121 453 3130 or visit The Blue Cross, in Wildmoor Lane, Catshill, Bromsgrove.
