BROMSGROVE Rovers have managed to beat Worcestershire rivals Evesham United to the signing of experienced midfielder Carl Adams.

Adams, aged 31, is set to sign for the Victoria Ground side when he returns from holiday next week.

The midfielder, who has in the past been a stalwart for Conference side Stevenage Borough, had been invited to join Evesham's pre-season training by manager Dave Busst.

However, the player decided that Bromsgrove was a better option.

The news will come as a boost to Rovers, who lost to Evesham in the Southern League Premier Division play-off final at the start of May.

Mullen said: "It is a huge boost for the club.

"He (Carl) felt that Rovers had more potential than Evesham.

"We've done well to get him as he's very experienced."

Mullen is also set to speak with Bedworth goalkeeper Lee Evans this week.

With no senior goalkeepers at the club, after Ian Gandy and Matt Lowe retired at the end of the season, a new custodian is one of the manager's top priorities.

Mullen said: "We will speak to Lee about joining this week.

"I'm also speaking to two centre forwards, so things are moving forward now."
