BROMSGROVE Rovers coach Bernard Mackie has urged the players to build on their brilliant FA Cup defeat of Hinckley.

Rovers were the better team against their Conference North opponents in a hotly contest FA Cup tie.

The victory means Rovers have won the last four games as they look to kick-start their season.

Mackie believes that the giant killing gives the team the boost of confidence it needs to move up the Southern League Division One West.

He said: "We have lost some ground in the league, but we have games coming up that if we win can get us into the top six."

After last night's defeat to Bedworth (Tuesday) Rovers will be desperate for a morale boosting win at Dunstable on Saturday, October 1.

Mackie praised the team for Saturday's win over Hinckley, after they went 1-0 down inside the first minute.

He said: "When Hinckley scored we thought that we might lose 3-0.

"But the players never stopped believing in themselves and they were the better team.

"We told them at half time there was only one team going to win and they were brilliant in the second half."

Chairman Tom Herbert praised manager Jimmy Mullen and the team: He said: "What a great performance by Jimmy and the boys. They all did the club proud."

Rovers have been drawn away at local rivals Halesowen Town in the FA Cup's third qualifying round on October 8.

One man who won't be helping Rovers' cup run is striker Leon Mitchell, who parted company with the club over the weekend.

Mitchell, who joined from Rushall Olympic last season, fell out of manager Jimmy Mullen's favour and has dropped down the pecking order at Rovers.

On the Rovers' internet forum Mitchell posted this message: "I would like to say I have really enjoyed my time at the club and really wanted to stay, but due to the lack of opportunity I have decided to move one.

"I have made some good friends during my time at the club and learned alot about the game and feel I will be leaving as a better player."

However, Mullen is set to move quickly to bring in another striker, with Rushall Olympic's Ben Porter top of their list.

l A coach for Saturday's game at Dunstable will be leaving the Victoria Ground at 11.30am.

Tickets for it costs £10 and those interested should be at the ground by 11am. Rovers are also looking for volunteers for Thursday and Tuesday nights to tidy up after training. For more information call the commercial office on 01527 876949.
