ROVERS boss Jimmy Mullen has singled out his side's games in hand as the perfect opportunity for them to get their stuttering season back on track.

In Southern League Division One West only Burnham - who Mullen's men beat 2-1 on Saturday - have played less games than Rovers. Therefore, Bromsgrove have games in hand on the majority of the sides above them and a series of wins would catapult them right back into the leading pack.

Mullen said that he is hoping to build on the win at Burnham and put a run together which will atone for the poor start to the season.

"Burnham is always a difficult place to go to, so I was very happy to come away with all three points," he said.

"They have a good track record in the league and not many teams look forward to going there.

"That said, I knew after the first 20 minutes of the game that we up to the challenge. We defended really well too which I am happy about.

"The goal settled us down a bit and when we got the second there was only going to be one winner."

Despite being happy with the three points, Mullen was left fuming by referee Mr R Kendall's decision to award the home side a late penalty. Burnham's Matt Miller converted the spot kick that denied Bromsgrove a well-deserved clean sheet.

"I still do not know how the ref gave the penalty - it was the clearest case of ball to hand I have ever seen. It was a very harsh decision, but thankfully it only cost us a clean sheet and not any points," Mullen added.

l Rovers have extended Paul Szewczyk's loan for a second month.
