ROD Brown has warned his players that he is set to make sweeping changes to the squad at Bromsgrove Rovers in order to bring promotion next season.

Brown has become increasingly dissatisfied with the squad's inability to find some consistency.

He was even more frustrated at his side's poor results while he has been away.

Brown did not see his team in the lacklustre draws against Taunton Town and Rushall Olympic in recent weeks.

He said: "I've been away for two weeks and some of the players have not been trying. But that's the way it has been all season.

"There have been games when the players have been motivated but a lot of the time they have not produced the goods.

"If players think they can get away with playing in the comfort zone they can think again.

"I have already begun to make plans for the summer and I'm going to bring in people with the right characters to make this club a success."

The Rovers boss indicated that he would be adding some steel to the team's spine.

Brown said: "We've got flair players like Kevin Banner and Wayne Dyer. What we need to do is bring in players with the desire to win and work hard.

"The squad is going to be radically different for next season, I can promise that.

"I will bring in players from a higher level but they won't be able available until the end of the season."

Brown is also set to speak with defender Phil Male. The defender left Rovers after falling out with previous manager Jimmy Mullen. However, it is thought that Male still has fond feelings for Rovers and may wish to return from current club Willenhall Town.

Brown said: "Phil is the sort of player who is comfortable in a number of positions.

"I've yet to speak with him but he was a popular player at the club."

l Goalkeeper Lee Evans may miss this Saturday's Southern League Division One West match at Paulton Rovers because of tonsillitis.

Brown though has a full strength squad to call on. Striker Luke Reynolds is also in line to make a start after coming on as a substitute against Rushall Olympic on Saturday.
