FORMER Bromsgrove Rovers FC stars came out in force to honour the memory of Ashley Read on Sunday at the Victoria Ground.
A Rovers team packed with former supporters' favourites defeated Advertiser/Messenger League side Hoolihans 5-2 in the final of the Ashley Read Memorial Shield.
Hundreds of fans came down to remember Ashley, who was tragically killed in a car accident in 2002.
Bromsgrove Rovers stars of the past Stewart Brighton, Richard Burgess and Mark Crisp were among the many players who gave up their Sundays in honour of Ashley.
Midfielder James Dyson, whose career at the club ended with a serious injury, made a surprise appearance and got his name on the scoresheet.
Burgess bagged a hat trick and Crisp, who scored against Barnsley in the club's epic FA Cup run, also scored.
Organiser Helen Jones said: "Everyone who came down remembered Ashley. He's still missed by everyone."
