Bromsgrove Rovers (2) 2 Burnham (0) 0

Southern League Division One West

ROVERS ended their two-game losing streak in the Southern League Division One West with a sparkling first half performance, inspired by new signings at the Victoria Ground on Saturday.

Matthew Barnes-Homer bagged the opener, before Scott Hadland rifled in the second in the first half as Rovers dominated the game.

Rovers were given an injection of life by new signings winger Anthony Maguire, striker Mark Danks and veteran goalkeeper Tim Clarke - who stepped in for suspended first choice Lee Evans.

The home side was kept at bay, despite dominating the game throughout, by Burnham goalkeeper Jamie Jackson.

The Buckinghamshire visitors had the first chance to score in the ninth minute, but Clarke dived to his left to tip away Daryl Jones' curling low volley.

Barnes-Homer opened the scoring with a bullet header in the 18th minute from Danks' excellent cross from the left.

Maguire, signed from Halesowen, was making an excellent debut and he sent in a curling right wing cross which Barnes-Homer could only head at Jackson on the 20-minute mark.

Rovers were keeping possession and made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute. Danks had his shot blocked, the ball fell to Barnes-Homer and he slipped it to Hadland, who side footed it into the left-hand corner.

Former Evesham 'keeper Clarke tipped over Matty Miller's left hand cross/shot in the 24th minute and five minutes later Jones was booked for a tackle from behind on Danks.

Danks saw his lob saved by Jackson on the half hour mark and then shot wide in the box nine minutes later.

Barnes-Homer missed a simple chance to secure the game.

Jackson saved Kevin Banner's long range pile driver and Barnes-Homer followed up, but the striker's rebound hit the bar and bounced out to safety.

Danks had a shot saved in the 59th minute, before Jackson made a triple save in the 65th minute, denying Barnes-Homer twice and Matt Johnson.

The 'keeper then made an excellent low save as Danks bared down on goal. The striker was inches wide of opening his tally for Rovers in the 76th minute. Phil Male pumped the ball forward and Danks got free on the right of the box, but his shot flashed wide of the left post.

Rovers had to be satisfied with just two goals as Jackson kept them at bay in the second half.
