A FILE on a leading Kidder-minster racehorse trainer has been closed by a judge at Worcester Crown Court after the defendant was found hanged.

Cengiz Sadik, 36, had been sent for retrial on a charge of assaulting his estranged wife and causing her actual bodily harm.

She claimed at the original trial in February that Sadik, of Broad Street, flew into a rage when she changed the locks on her home, made a death threat and tried to strangle her but a jury failed to reach a verdict.

Mr Sadik was found dead on June 24 at stables in Wolverley. His funeral was due to take place on Tuesday at Wolverley parish church.

A post mortem revealed the father-of-two had died from hanging and an inquest was opened and adjourned at Stourport two weeks ago.

Miss Carol Knotts, for the prosecution, handed a death certificate to the crown court.

Judge Bruce Coles ordered the case file to be closed.

Katerina Svecova told the jury her husband barged her door open on July 18 last year, punched and kicked her and held two knives near her stomach.

Defence counsel Lucy Hawkins, however, accused her of launching an attack on Mr Sadik.

Miss Svecova admitted breaking a plate over his head in another incident.

The victim's father, Jeff Sadik, 60, of The Coachhouse, Wolverley, revealed his son had been to court in a custody battle over his children a few days before he died.
