BAD light stopped play yesterday after Worcestershire set Yorkshire just 203 to win at Headingley in Frizzell County Championship Division Two.

Yorkshire reached 89-2 by the close as the third day lost 64 overs to the weather with Anthony McGrath on 42 not out.

McGrath hit an unbeaten 173 in Yorkshire's first innings.

Matthew Wood and Joe Sayers began Yorkshire's chase but Kabir Ali claimed the former for eight with Stephen Moore catching at point.

Sayers (22) was snapped up by first slip Chris Gayle off Nadeem Malik with the score on 70.

Earlier in the day, Yorkshire's new Australian signing Mark Cleary soon had the County in big trouble. In his first over, Smith attempted a hook shot and Simon Guy dived forward to claim him for a duck.

Guy's next catch was off Cleary when he flung himself to his right to send back Gareth Batty (seven).

Kabir Ali did not score, falling to Wood's catch off Deon Kruis (4-65), and Shoaib Akhtar smashed a six before slicing Cleary to Kruis for eight.

Vikram Solanki reached his 50 with his ninth four and ended up unbeaten with a fluent 74 from 94 balls. Matt Mason (16) helped Solanki add a valuable 33 for the ninth wicket but Malik was the third duck as the County went for 211 all out.
