A BROADWAY woman reached 100 on Saturday and believes the secret to long life is 'a little tot of whisky every night'.

Grace Catherine Jones, of Station Road, celebrated with family and friends by holding a tea party at her home.

Mrs Jones, who owned a millinery factory when she was in her 20s, married Leonard and the couple spent most of their married life moving around the country - a staggering 28 times.

Her daughter, Deirdre McCarthy, of Cheltenham, said: "My mother was the youngest of three sisters and once she married my father, she became very much a lady of leisure. She has always moved around and believes it is what keeps her young."

Grace and her husband have lived in Devonshire, Cheshire, north Wales - one of the 100-year-old's favourite places - before she decided to move to Broadway this April.

"I asked mother what she would like for her birthday and without a hesitation, she said a removal van," said Deirdre, "She is still a very active and independent woman and believes a little tot of whisky and moving around is what keeps you young."

Grace hosted a champagne reception at a hotel in Lower Slaughter as part of her birthday.
