OUR new chief constable went walkabout around the Wyld's Lane area. Paul West met community leaders and obliged the cameras by adopting an earnest expression whenever there was the possibility of a shutter clicking.
I'm all in favour of such meet-the-people sessions. But why Wyld's Lane? I would have thought that this relative haven of peace and tolerance was the last place to need a visit by the top brass.
It's a pity he couldn't have done the rounds in the Hylton Road and Henwick areas of Worcester. Had he done so he would have realised that the residents of these parts are now plagued by anti-social drunks who do nothing all day but get bladdered, then leave piles of boxes and drinks.
Let's have proper policing, Mr West - not just glorified PR exercises.
