ASPIRING archaeologists have got to work uncovering fascinating finds at The Commandery.
The dig, which will last six weeks, began on Tuesday, and is the ideal opportunity for history lovers to play a part in the rediscovery of Worcester's fascinating past.
Anyone interested can either take a tour around the site or get their hands dirty and get actively involved in the dig.
The excavation is part of a £1.4m Heritage Lottery project to renovate and revitalise the significant site.
In its many incarnations, the building has been a monastic hospital, a stately Tudor home, the Royalist headquarters during the Civil War, a Georgian home, a Victorian school for the blind and a 20th Century home and printworks.
People can take part any time during the six-week period but they are advised to get the most out of the interesting experience.
Julian Richards, presenter of BBC2's Meet The Ancestors, will be on hand on Saturday and Sunday, July 22-23, to guide the diggers in the right direction and answer historical questions.
