FOOTBALLERS proved their ball skills when they won the Prince's Trust charity golf day.

Worcester City manager Andy Preece led his team to victory at the Sapey Golf Course, despite the Worcester News readers expecting Graeme Hick and the Worcestershire Country Cricket Club team to win. In our reader competition, where entrants had to chose the winning team and tell us where WCCC played, only 10 per cent voted for Worcester City. Fifteen per cent thought Worcester Warriors could do it, 30 per cent voted for England Rugby veterans and a huge 45 per cent voted for WCCC. The winner was colourful character Roger Harris, known to many people as Captain Crazy.

The Worcester City match presenter and DJ, from the Franche area of Kidderminster, put his trust in the footballers to win the golf tournament, but for his prize chose to see the cricket team in action. He said: "I'm absolutely delighted.

"Graeme Hick is a hero of mine. I try to get to Worcester and watch the cricket as much as I can, which is never enough, so I'm really pleased."

John Leftwich, Prince's Trust area chairman, said the best result of the golf day was raising £10,000.
