A TREE of willow has been made at a Worcester school to symbolise its new ethos.

The tree was created during a week of art, drama and music when visiting artist Paul Simmons worked with pupils and staff at Perry Wood Primary and Nursery School with the theme of ‘who do you think you are?’.

Nicola Williams, assistant headteacher at the school in St Albans Close, Ronkswood, said it was an inspirational week.

She said: “It is a theme that lots of schools in our cluster have been working towards and our work will be featured at an exhibition at Nunnery Wood High School next term.

“The willow tree has been created by Paul and he has been working with us all week on the statement piece of artwork which will represent our creative curriculum.

“Our new vision for the school is based around this tree – roots to grow and wings to fly.”

She said that children took part in helping to create the tree, along with making willow wands and willow dreamcatchers.

Pictured with the willow tree are artist Paul Simmons, from Willowcraft, with youngsters Emma Kendrick and Adam Rowberry, both aged nine.
