THE mother of a teenage motorcyclist who was killed in a crash has paid tribute to her “sweet son”, describing him as a “lovable rogue” who died doing what he loved.

Flowers, cards, England flags, messages and photographs were laid at the spot where 19-year-old Carl Cocks of Lansdowne Close, Malvern, lost his life on Saturday.

Mr Cocks – known to his friends as ‘Cocksy’ – died after his white Yamaha TZR125 was in collision with a red Fiat Punto and a black Vauxhall Astra in Upton Road (B4424), Callow End, at 4.40pm on Saturday.

Among the tributes left at the scene was a framed collection of photographs of him left by his mum Mandy Cocks along with the words: “I’m gonna miss you so much. I love you my sweet son. Sleep tight mum x.”

In a statement issued yesterday Mrs Cocks said: “I have spoken to some of his motorcycling mates and they said they had all agreed that if they were to die they would want it to be on their bikes.

“I particularly want to thank ‘Rossy’ (McMurray), Carl’s best mate, for being there for him when he died.

“It is comforting to know that someone so close to him was with him and he did not die alone.”

Mrs Cocks, speaking on behalf of Carl’s siblings Andrew, aged 24, Lea-Ann, 23, Stephen, 20 and seven-year-old Nicky, said: “There hasn’t been a day go past that we haven’t wanted to hear Carl’s bike coming into the close – and many people who live here feel the same. You could always tell Carl was coming, even from distance, by the distinctive noise his bike made.”

Mrs Cocks thanked her neighbours for their support.

She said Carl - a former pupil of The Grove School, Pickersleigh Road and The Chase High School - “lived on and loved” bikes.

A service will be held at Worcester Crematorium at 12.30pm on Friday, July 9 and Mrs Cocks has asked mourners to bring along a single rose.

“I want Carl to have the best send-off possible – my lovable rogue deserves it,” she said.

“I want all his mates to be there who knew Carl for who he was. To me, a single rose is the symbol of love and instead of bouquets of flowers I would like everyone to just bring a single rose. That would mean a great deal to me and the family.”

Among the tributes left at the scene was a message from his dad Don, who lives in Southampton, which read: “Carl, it’s so hard for us knowing you’re not here. To hear your voice, your laughs or to see you smile. We miss you so much. Dad & Maz.”

Yesterday two groups had been set up on Facebook - ‘R.I.P carl cocks you will always be in our hearts’ with 177 members and 'R.I.P Carl Cocks' with 576 members at the last count.
