THE sun shone on a multicultural picnic held in a Worcester park.
The Peace Picnic, organised by Stanley Road Primary School, was held at Fort Royal Park, off London Road. The free community event, part of the school’s annual arts festival, saw Indian and African drummers and pupils taking part in arts and crafts.
Schoolchildren even paid a visit to Karma Café in Broad Street to make food for the picnic, while members of the community hand-made a ‘peace by piece’ quilt for people to sit on.
Stanley Road headteacher Anne Potter said: “It was so nice to have such a diverse community as ours come together and think about sharing, rather than concentrating on the differences.
“We were blessed with the gorgeous weather of course.
It was great to see so many members of the community there, as well as parents of our pupils.
“We had these big boards and asked people to write messages on the theme of peace. There was so many positive comments. It was just lovely to see.”
