AN enjoyable summer barbecue was held at the home of president Lynda Gillespie on a lovely summer’s evening, with Rotarians and guests joining us. A raffle raised more than £100 and it was agreed that the proceeds should be forwarded to Help for Heroes charity, as the event had taken place on Armed Forces Day.
The June meeting was a double one of the annual meeting and the monthly meeting. Georgina Hunt, last year’s district chairman and now district extension officer was guest, and a useful discussion followed on future membership of the Inner Wheel. Reports were made by officers for the month and the past year.
Treasurer June Green was announced a successful amount in the charity account from events held during the past 12 months. It was proposed that a cheque for one thousand pounds should go to Lynda’s main charity for this year, the Acorn’s Children’s Hospice. In the absence of Shirley Jones, secretary Pam Plumridge gave the report on overseas service as well as the secretary’s report.
Gill Walters gave the club correspondent’s reports.
Two fellowships were announced for the autumn at Edgbaston, Birmingham, and Nuneaton. President Lynda also reminded members of the two August dates, when there is no monthly meeting, a lunch at Abberley on Tuesday, August 10, and a coffee morning at the home of Shirley Jones on Thursday, August 24. The handover meeting will be at the Chateau Impney, near Droitwich, on Monday, July 19.
