A MAN was airlifted to hospital with serious burns after an aerosol spray exploded.
West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to Ledbury Community Hospital at 11.30am yesterday where they found a man being cared for by hospital staff in the minor injuries unit.
A spokesman for the service said: “The man, believed to be in his 60s, sustained burns to his head, face, hands, arms and leg.
"It is believed the man was carrying out maintenance work when an aerosol spray ignited.
“Crews immediately commenced treatment on the man at the scene, administering pain relief and dressing his wounds with cooling burns packs.
"The man was transferred by land ambulance to the awaiting helicopter, which had landed nearby, before being conveyed by air ambulance to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.
“Medics were pre alerted to the arrival of the man who was in a serious condition.”
An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Strensham attended.
