A 22-year-old who breached a court order within weeks is “turning his life around”.

Christopher Wallis, of Marlborough Gardens in Malvern, is banned from going within 100 metres of his girlfriend’s mother’s house, but on Saturday, June 19 - just three weeks after the order was made - tried to barge his way through the front door.

Douglas Marshall, prosecuting at Worcester Magistrates Court, said the door was on a latch which stopped Wallis from getting inside but the injured party - his girlfriend’s mum - was frightened and distressed.

He said: “Christopher Willis tried to gain entry. She [the mother] could see the defendant walking up the path, come up to the front door and start shouting for his girlfriend.

“She said he was really shoving at the door. She was not afraid of being attacked, but thought if he got in that he’d refuse to leave.”

Sarah Brady, defending, told the court that despite the breach Wallis had made real progress and recently secured a job.

She said: “He’s never had a job until this position. He is a young man whose behaviour can be terrible when in drink, but one employer has taken a chance to stand by him.”

Praising the employer for giving Wallis a chance, district judge Bruce Morgan said: “It would seem that your life is turning around.”

He sentenced him to six weeks in jail suspended for two years and ordered him to complete a domestic abuse awareness programme and alcohol treatment course.

He will also pay £150 to the victim.
