TWINS from the University of Worcester will be representing England at the British National Karate Championships in Scotland on Saturday.

Lee and Steve Heath, aged 19, from Warndon in Worcester, were recently selected as part of the English national karate squad and have already competed in Greece and Montenegro among the very best young international hopefuls.

Lee, a first-year business management and accounting student, and Steve, a firstyear sports studies undergraduate, have been participating in martial arts since the age of seven and have since achieved extensive regional, national and international success.

Lee and Steve were both awarded a £500 scholarship from the University of Worcester scholarship fund to assist them with their travel expenses.

Ahead of the National Championships Lee said: “It’s a fantastic opportunity to be able to compete at this level.

I’m really grateful to the University for awarding us the money, which helps towards our flights and accommodation.”

Steve added: “The recent competitions have been great practice ahead of the try-outs for the World Karate Championships later in the year.”
