A DAY celebrating the vocational qualifications of students at a city college has been hailed a success.

The VQ day, held at Worcester’s Guildhall, showed off work done in the Worcester College of Technology’s vocational course departments, including construction, engineering, hair and beauty and hospitality.

Students’ 3D modelling work was on display and there were demonstrations of manicures, hand and arm massages, make-up and hair styling, motorbike servicing and catering.

Rachel Gowers, head of marketing for the college, said that in the tough economic times it was vital that they raised the profile of skills and training.

She said: “It was great to see so many students demonstrating their skills.

“When they leave college and start looking for a job they will be confident and have all the skills employers are looking for.”
