A RONKSWOOD primary school has been attacked yet again by vandals, who hurled crab apples at its windows.

One large window was smashed and several others were caked in bits of apple from the attack, at Perry Wood Primary School in St Alban's Close.

Demoralised staff arrived on Monday morning to find a scene of "devastation" and made an urgent public appeal to find those responsible.

The school will have to pay the £85 costs of replacing the broken window itself because although the property is insured, it only covers damage over £200.

It is the third time in recent months the school has been subject to vandalism. In April, the Worcester News reported how 15 windows were smashed during a drink-fuelled attack, and last months windows were pelted by golf balls.

Pauline Begley, administration manager at the school for youngsters aged five to 11, called the attack "frustrating and disappointing".

"Ten to 15 windows were hit," she said. "One was smashed and the others were splattered in mess from the apples.

"It is a total inconvenience and demoralises the staff and children. The children are upset and don't know why anyone would want to do this.

"We are working so hard at this school and find it frustrating and disappointing that we have been attacked again. The £85 cost eats away at our budget, not to mention the time spent cleaning the windows and clearing away the apples.

"We have CCTV coverage which we will be looking at, but in the meantime would urge anyone who may know who did this, to go and report it to the police."

A spokesman for Worcester police said: "This mindless vandalism, which occured over the weekend, may well have been witnessed by neighbours or other members of the community, and we would ask anyone who can offer information to get in touch immediately."

They call Worcester police on 08457 444888 quoting incident number 135S/100706.
