THE search for Worcester’s brightest star is on.

Worcester’s Got Talent, in association with your Worcester News, will see singers, dancers, comedians, variety acts, magicians and performers of every calibre performing live in the city.

While dates have not yet been fixed, the 2010 contest is coming soon and organisers are calling on talented people to sign up now.

Inspired by the wildly popular television show Britain’s Got Talent, the event is being run by Sin Bar – the team behind the already successful Text Factor contest.

There is £5,000 up for grabs, including £2,500 for the winner and £500 for the most improved performer.

“We have a lot of fun,” said organiser Paul Todd, the manager of Sin.

“It’s the biggest competition of its kind in the Midlands and we do it properly. It provides an opportuniy for the acts – some of whom have never been on stage before, and it’s a fantastic value-for-money night out.”

To enter, fill out the application form in today's Worcester News (which will be printed every day this week) or pick one up from Sin on New Street, Worcester.

After all the applications have flooded in, live heats will be held at Sin once a week, followed by a quarter-final, a semi-final and a glittering grand finale.

People will perform in front of an audience as well as a panel of judges like the TV show.

There will also be a special Worcester News Wildcard night where the best acts as voted for by readers will compete for a coveted place in the final.

The evening will raise money for the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign, the chosen charity of your Worcester News.
