THE director of a company which sponsors the Worcester Warriors has offered to buy a quad bike for theft-victim Worcester war hero Tom Neathway.

As we reported earlier, paratrooper Tom Neathway, aged 26, had his black and red £6,000 Apache RLX 320 quad bike taken from his bungalow at 6am on Wednesday.

Mr Neathway, who lost three limbs in a bomb blast while serving in Afghanistan in 2008, had used his compensation money to buy the bike to help his regain his independence.

The bike was not insured, and Mr Neathway will now have to use money to install CCTV cameras to protect his home from thieves.

After reading about the story however, Ed Dunn, managing director of FragranceMad.com who lives in Chaddesley Corbett, near Kidderminster was so moved, that he has said he will buy him a bike, which cost £6,000, to replace it.

“I saw it on the news and I thought poor guy, he really didn’t need this. I want to speak to him and ask if he wants me to replace it, and will buy him a new one if it isn’t insured.

“I wish I could get hold of the people who did this. He has fought for our country, and he has lost more than most people could ever wish or think about. This is his means of freedom and he shouldn’t have it taken away from him,” he added.

Mr Dunn now plans to get in touch with Mr Neathway and discuss their options.

Mr Neathway said he did not make it public for someone to come forward, but was touched with the offer from Mr Dunn.

“I wanted my bike back and for the person who took it to be caught. "But this is amazing, it shows that the British public support me and they think I have done enough for my country. "That I have got this offer for help is great and I want to say thank you for it,” he added.

Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call police on 0300 3333000, quoting 110S/250810 or Crime stoppers on 0800 555111.
