DESPITE all the nerves, the fierce competition and falling ill at the last moment, Cher Lloyd is one step closer to pop stardom.

The Worcestershire teenager has made it through to the live finals of the X Factor.

Millions of people tuned into the ITV show last night to see the 17-year-old Malvern Link girl make it to the next round of the wildly popular TV talent contest.

Saturday night’s show was much harder to watch as a combination of nerves and a throat infection left Cher struggling to perform in front of house judge Cheryl Cole and record producer Will.i.am.

The teenager, who has been one of the bookies’ favourites to go far since day one, broke down in tears during the audition at Cheryl’s home.

When Cheryl encouraged her to come back later for another attempt, Cher declined and said: “I’m done now, I’m done”.

But the youngster battled through the pain and will now take part in the nail-biting live shows.

A former Chase High School and Dyson Perrins High School student, Cher is used to taking part in talent shows. She came second in Text Factor at Sin Bar in Worcester earlier this year, but will now experience the unrivalled spotlight of being on the X Factor.

Well over 10 million are already watching the show and all eyes will be on the 12 acts, including Cher, as they perform live every Saturday night.
