IT looks like our X Factor star is most definitely rising with Cher making it through to the next round of the hit TV talent show.

On Saturday night Cher again wowed judges and the public with her innovative rendition of Jay Z’s Hard Knock Life which had been specially rearranged for her unique singing style.

In last night’s results Storm and Diva Fever were the next two acts to be booted off the ITV1 show after losing a sing-off with Belle Amie.

But 17-year-old Cher, who is a former student of Dyson Perrins High School in Malvern, sailed through to the next round with three of the four judges praising her performance.

Simon Cowell said: “I absolutely loved it.

“Like the group on before (One Direction) I see a future here, I think you are exciting and you take risks.

“You are interesting, you are different and I pray to God you are here next week but I think you will be.”

And Louis Walsh said: “You were right to take the risk because it so worked and it was so you.

“You have great attitude and swagger, you are like a little mini Cheryl, you look like a pop star.”

Cher’s mentor Cheryl Cole said she believed she was ready to be famous.

“You look like a pop star, you sound like a pop star, your attitude is like a pop star, you are a pop star,” she said.

However Dannii Minogue questioned the song choice and said she was less impressed by this week’s performance as the previous weeks.

“Tonight it just didn’t work for me,” she said.

When Cher was asked what she thought of that, she said it was a “fair point”.

Cher’s dad Darren said he was very proud of her performance.

“It was very good and I was extremely proud,” he said.

“We weren’t able to hear the judges’ comments in the audience but she is definitely looking to be the face and pop star of the future and we know she will do well.”

Also wowing the judges was Katie Waissel who gave a very good performance of I Would Rather Go Blind by Etta James and Simon Cowell said she was now showing her true self.

Mary Byrne’s performance was also praised by Mr Cowell, who said: “Just do what you are doing, you are getting this 100 per cent right, it’s believable, it’s emotional, I thought again that was a fantastic performance.”

• Tracks from this series of X Factor are not eligible for the official UK singles chart, despite being sold via iTunes.

For the first time this year, fans are able to buy tracks from the finalists as digital downloads within hours of the talent show being broadcast on ITV.

The move avoids exposing which contestants are proving most popular.
