ONCE again, what Cher is wearing – or buying – has kept the Malvern Link teenager in the newspapers this week.

Since the X Factor contestant first appeared on stage in a pair of jeans customised by mum, 17-year-old Cher Lloyd has become something of a fashion icon.

It seems everyone is more interested in what Cher is wearing than in what she’s singing – apart from Cher herself, that is.

Speaking to your Worcester News, she said: “To be quite honest, I just shove my clothes on in the morning and hope for the best. They’re just clothes. But I never like to be boring or to be normal.”

It has also been reported there has been a rise in the sale of fake eyelashes since Cher took to our screens.

A video on the X Factor’s official website shows a make-up artist putting not one, not two but three pairs of fake eyelashes onto the pint-sized singer.

“I don’t normally put three pairs on,” said Cher, who has to wear less make-up on a day-to-day basis because her teenage skin doesn’t need it.

But celebrities – full make-up or not – need to keep-up with the latest trends, and so Cher and the other X Factor finalists were all treated to a shopping trip at Topshop’s flagship store on Oxford Street earlier this week.

Cher left the store with several bags, but she still has some very important shopping to do – not for herself but for her grandmother Jan. Cher promised her a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes when she made it big. Cher said: “That’s the first thing I’m going to buy. I’m going to let her choose them.”

As she prepares for tonight’s live show – which has the theme of “Guilty Pleasures” – we can be almost certain her onstage outfit will be a talking point.

Despite rumours to the contrary, the ex-Dyson Perrins student has complete trust in the X Factor stylists' ability to create her look. “Both stylists know exactly what they’re doing,” she said.

But all the chatter over her clothes is really secondary to her performance tonight “This week I’m looking forward to doing a song which probably I wouldn’t have done in the past, but I’m going to do it anyway,” Cher said in her online video diary. “I cannot wait because I know you’re going to love it. Well, I hope you will!”
