THE X Factor judges once again went crazy for Malvern’s Cher Lloyd as she sailed through to next weekend’s show.

The former Dyson Perrins High School pupil’s high energy performance mixture of No Diggity, by Blackstreet, and Tears for Fears’ (more recently covered by comedian James Corden) Shout was so good it made Simon Cowell cross – because he knew Cher’s mentor would be “smug”.

In last night’s results John Adeleye became the next act to leave the show after losing a sing-off with Treyc Cohen.

But Cher’s confident, relaxed performance even won judge Dannii Minogue around, who last week felt Cher’s “risk” – Jay Z’s A Hard Knock Life – didn’t work.

Speaking on the X Factor before her appearance, Cher, aged 17, said: “Dannii didn’t think my risk paid off, but it sort of made me think, okay, look what I can do now.”

And it certainly was a ‘look what I can do’ performance.

Dannii said afterwards: “This really felt like this is what you would do at your concert. The staging was absolutely mind-blowing. I love the way you look and – as a last note – you sang it really well.”

Simon said: “I can only tell you Cher it did not feel like you were someone taking part in a competition. It felt like you were someone who had had five hit records and just came back with your new single.”

Louis Walsh said: “I loved what you did on stage.

“It’s like you are comfortable. This is what you love to do.”

Cher’s mentor Cheryl Cole was equally excited.

“You are everything that a pop star should be and I thoroughly enjoy you every Saturday night,” she said.

And Cher’s family – who once again travelled to Wembley to see her on the show – were delighted as well.

“We thought it was the best so far,” said dad Darren Lloyd. “She loved it. We got 10 minutes to see her on Saturday night.

“But you still never know if she’ll stay in.

“It’s all about whether people vote or not.

“If they don’t vote, she could end up in the bottom two,” Mr Lloyd said.
