CHER Lloyd has won a place in next week’s X Factor show after Cheryl Cole branded her a “little star in the making”.

The Malvern Link teenager shone during Elton John week and with a mix of Elton John’s Sorry Seems To Be The Hardest Word and Eminem’s Mockingbird.

It was Aiden Grimshaw who surprisingly left the show in a single eviction last night – not a double one as many had predicted. Katie Waissell survived another week as one of the bottom two-rated acts.

The judges were deadlocked after the sing-off and it was Aiden who polled the fewest public votes.

Viewers saw Cher bounce back from last week when Simon Cowell branded her performance disappointing.

This week he told her: “You are 100 per cent back in the game. You take criticism. You handle it well.

“I think you did fantastically well.”

Cher’s mentor Cheryl Cole said: “With your stage presence and sometimes pretended confidence it’s easy to forget you’re 17 and sometimes you just need a bit of support and reassurance. You are a little star in the making Cher and I’m privileged to be working alongside you.”

Fellow judges Louis Walsh branded Cher, a former Dyson Perrins High School pupil, a “little diva in the making,” while Dannii Minogue called Cher’s performance relaxed and comfortable but said she wanted to see more singing and less rapping.

Kelly Summers, partner of Cher’s Uncle Damian Lloyd, said: “I thought she was absolutely brilliant.

“I thought the song was absolutely perfect for her.

“She takes into consideration what the judges say and she’ll always do her best.”

Viewers saw an overwhelmed Cher posing for photographs and signing autographs at the London premiere of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

In an interview before her performance, she said of the experience: “This is the most important I’ve felt in my life.

“I feel like a somebody now.”

The audience also heard how she had previously discussed her future career with dad Darren.

She said: “We talked about different jobs I could do, you know, working in a shop, in a supermarket.

“Although those jobs are fine I would have never enjoyed myself as much as I’m enjoying myself now.”
