THE top taxi driver in Worcestershire has said thanks to all her loyal customers after winning an award.
Sue Penney, of Knapp Lane, Malvern, thought she had been targeted by an elaborate scam when the Worcestershire Welcome Awards team called to say that she had been nominated.
However, she was “completely shocked” when it was announced she had won the gong as the county’s top cabbie.
Mrs Penney, who runs Classic Cabs and Sue’s Taxis and has driven fares for 12 years, said “a big thank you” to all the people who had nominated her.
The 55-year-old said: “I will go into the shops and take customers shopping if they need to.
“I make sure any drunken young ladies travelling home alone at the end of the night get through their front door before I leave, and I make sure any of my pensioners get safely home as well.”
