SIXTEEN people braved chilly weather to take part in an abseil against domestic abuse.

The Worcestershire Forum Against Domestic Abuse, in partnership with West Mercia Police and Hereford and Worcester Fire Service, held an abseilling event at Malvern Fire Station yesterday. The aim was to raise awareness of the 16 Days of Action, an international campaign to end violence in the home.

Eight men and eight women took part, while forum patron Elizabeth Hunter, High Sheriff for Herefordshire and Worcestershire, looked on.

Ros Walker, domestic abuse co-ordinator, said: “We are heartened by the level of support and interest that the campaign is receiving locally.”
