CHER Lloyd will tonight sing for a place in the final of The X Factor.

The 17-year-old from Malvern Link has barely been out of the national media spotlight since her first audition for television’s most-watched show.

Now she is within touching distance of a £1m recording contract.

We think Cher’s life has changed forever whatever happens tonight.

She certainly seems to be one of the X Factor acts that Simon Cowell believes he can turn into a star.

The likelihood is she will get a record contract even if she does not make it any further than tonight’s show.

The Worcester News has backed Cher to win the competition from the start and the vast majority of our readers have supported the local girl.

Most people are delighted to see a talented youngster having a go on the biggest talent contest in Britain.

Whatever you think of Cher’s performances, it is worth remembering that she is just 17 and has had to cope with massive attention from the national media in recent weeks.

While it is true to say such coverage goes with the territory when people feature on programmes watched by millions it is also a lot to cope with for such a young girl.

The teenager will need one more push from her supporters once voting lines open tonight if she is to take her place in next week’s final.

We wish her the very best of luck.
