AS their daughter gets ready for one of the biggest performances of her life, Cher Lloyd’s parents are keeping their fingers crossed.

“Absolutely anyone could be going home at this point,” said dad Darren, speaking to your Worcester News yesterday. “It’s all down to the public vote.”

The five remaining acts will perform two songs during tonight’s live semi-final. The theme is club classics. And Cher’s family will again by there to support her – this time wearing special T-shirts provided by your Worcester News.

For 17-year-old Cher, who only gets to see her family briefly on a Saturday night, it is another chance to show the world she’s got what it takes to make it. Speaking to the X Factor website, she said it had been a stressful week with ups and downs and while she wasn’t over-confident about her songs, she felt good.

Mr Lloyd, aged 37, said: “This isn’t just her journey. We’re all going through it.

“That’s what I tell Cher every week – just enjoy yourself. She’s at the stage now where she’s always dreamed of being, so just enjoy it.

“Even if she gets booted off, look how far she’s come.

“What an incredible experience it’s been for her.”

Mum Dinah said Sunday night’s results show was still a “nightmare”.

“It’s stressful,” she said, “but talking about it all with kids helps. They can laugh things off.

“And it’s incredible that local people stop us in the street to tell us they’re supporting Cher.”

Last week, Cher’s sister Rosie, 12, was over the moon to see teen sensation Justin Bieber on stage and, if big sister makes it big, there is a chance the family will meet even more stars. “We could never afford to take the kids to see all these people in concert,” said Dinah.

“What Cher has given us is priceless.”

If the Malvern Link teenager makes it through, there will be a double celebration for brother Josh, who turns 16 on Monday.
