A SINGING contest that pitted local businesses against each other has raised more than £11,000 for charity.

Hallow-based technology company Postcode Anywhere presented a cheque for £11,155 to blood cancer charity Leukaemia Care.

The money came from this year’s hugely successful Last Choir Standing competition, which saw choirs representing businesses and organisations from across Worcestershire compete on stage at the Malvern Theatres last month.

Firms that took part included accountants Ballard Dale Syree Watson, teaching staff from Fort Royal Community Primary School, Leukaemia CARE and Barclays Corporate Banking team.

Among the prize winners were Malvern Theatres, Worcestershire Ambassadors, Thursfields Solicitors and Worcester Warriors.

Postcode Anywhere managing director Guy Mucklow said: “We could not have raised the amount we did without the support of all the Worcestershire organisations that participated.

“Our corporate social responsibility officer, Angela Davis and I were given a tour of Leukaemia CARE’s premises and we were touched by the dedication of support staff there, who offer a real life line to the many children and adults suffering from the blood cancer, leukaemia, lymphoma, myeloma and allied blood disorders.

“There has never been a more critical time for businesses to support charities.”
