PEOPLE can take a step back in time to enjoy a traditional Victorian Christmas at Worcester’s Commandery Museum this weekend.
Families can experience a puppet show and find out about making festive decorations such as paper chains, historic Christmas cards and cornucopias to fill with sweets.
They can also enjoy Victorian children’s games and see Victorian servants in the Commandery kitchen and scullery making festive preparations during the event on Saturday, December 18.
Then Father Christmas will arrive at the museum, in Sidbury, and set up his grotto in the heart of the ancient building.
Philippa Tinsley, collections manager at Worcester city and Worcestershire county joint museums service said: “No era in history has influenced the way in which we celebrate Christmas, quite as much as the Victorians.
Appointments with Father Christmas must be booked by calling 01905 361821. Among youngsters meeting him will be competition winners Ryan and Katie Weston. The price per child is £4.50 and includes a Victorian gift from his sack.
