A QUICK-FIRE hat-trick from James Day helped Oldbury Park Tigers under 16s beat Worcester Wizards 3-2 and reach the County Cup final for the third year running.

Higher-ranked Oldbury took the lead after just three minutes. Good passing from Gavin Murphy and Mark Waldron saw Day collect the ball on the edge of the box and his low shot found the corner of the net.

A goalkeeping mistake saw Day make it 2-0 five minutes later and, on 12 minutes, he completed his hat-trick with a long-range effort.

The game should have been all over at that stage, but Tigers started to relax and a defensive error saw Miguel score from eight yards to make it 3-1.

Oldbury had several more opportunities in the first-half with Tom Baker, Josh Newbold, Waldron and Ryan Collins all going close.

However, the second-half was a different story and, with 15 minutes left, Oldbury failed to close down Miguel and he fired home from 30 yards to further reduce the deficit.

Day nearly got his fourth when his header bounced off the top of the bar and over, before a late Jamie Oliver save ensured Tigers held on.
