A TEENAGE singing sensation has just completed a tour of China to mark his album release.

Charlie Green, who caused a storm in 2008 on the popular television show Britain’s Got Talent, has recently shown he is still a world-wide talent after a trip to Hong Kong and China.

The 13-year-old, of Droitwich, visited the countries in November and December to promote his new album, called A Friend Like You, and took part in concerts and television shows before returning home for Christmas.

On Boxing Day he flew back to Shanghai for more TV appearances and a special TV countdown performance on New Year's Eve in Shanghai Square.

His father Roger said: “Charlie also took part in various TV and radio interviews promoting his new album, which has been released in all Asian territories. Charlie, who also appeared on Italian TV in October, is hoping his new album will be available soon in Europe, and of course the UK.

“Charlie's busy schedule will continue this year with further visits to Italy, China, the Philippines and a possible visit to Japan. Charlie also hopes he will have the opportunity of doing more concerts in the UK.”

Charlie was a student at Bishop Perowne CE College in Worcester, but had to finish last September due to the constant disruption to school attendance as he was absent for long periods due to his work.

However hs is now enrolled with Oxford Home Schooling.

Mr Green, of Coppice Way, Droitwich, said: “It means that, wherever he is on his travels, he can take his schoolwork with him and can also contact his tutors at any time for advice.”

He added: “Charlie was invited to China and Hong Kong as a result of his CD album being released there. He was very well received in both these countries, especially when one considers the cultural and language differences.

“Charlie really enjoyed his experience in both Chine and Hong Kong and even managed to greet his audiences in their own languages.

“For the past 10 months Charlie's voice has been in transition, changing from a boy to a man's voice.

“The transition should be complete in the next few months. Luckily Charlie has been able to continue with his singing engagements during this period.”
