A MAN has been charged with attempted murder after his girlfriend was stabbed in the head and neck.

Kirsty Holmes, aged 19, was taken to the Worcestershire Royal Hospital for treatment to a number of stab wounds after being injured in a house in Carlisle Road, Worcester, in the early hours of Sunday.

Police arrested her 21-year-old boyfriend Scott Smith at the scene minutes after the stabbing.

He appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court yesterday and was remanded in custody.

Miss Holmes, a former pupil at Elgar Technology College who now works at Bank in the High Street, returned home from hospital yesterday.

Dozens of well wishers have left messages on social networking site Facebook expressing their disbelief over the stabbing.

Friend Stevie Bunton said: “Keep that chin up. You got all your family and friends around you and we all love you very very much.”

Carly Finch wrote: “I really can’t believe what’s happened Kirst. I haven’t stopped thinking about you all day!

“Just focus on getting yourself better and come home to your family and friends who love you.”

Toni Dunn wrote: “It’s just such a shock. You never expect bad things to happen close to home.”

Stacey Jalie wrote: “Just so sad to see what happened, you looked so happy when I saw you last night.”

Miss Holmes also posted a message to thank all the well-wishers for their comments.

Smith, of Carlisle Road, Ronkswood, will appear at Worcester crown court on Monday, January 24.
