GRAHAM Coyle is the new head of the senior school at Worcester’s River School.

Mr Coyle has a long history of service at the school; he began teaching there in September 1987 when the school was only years old.

Over the years, Mr Coyle has combined his teaching job with numerous roles.

In 2006, he was appointed the national team leader of the Christian Schools Trust which involved overseeing the combined work of 45 schools in the UK.

He represented them in legislative and judicial issues, leading on conference and training work and building links with similar overseas schools and organisations.

His previous jobs have included working for British Youth for Christ in Brixton – shortly after the 1982 riots.

Richard Wood, headmaster at the River School said: “We are delighted to welcome Graham as head of the senior school.

“He brings with him both experience and knowledge as well as a true sense of the school’s purpose.

“2011 looks set to be a good year for us.

“We continue to grow and develop in order to provide both our staff and pupils with the very best education as well as an environment in which we can all succeed.”

Mr Coyle said: “I am very excited about my new role at the school.

“Our excellent group of teachers all contribute to the positive life of the school, ensuring our students get maximum benefit “I look forward to continuing the good work we do in training and preparing our young people to make a positive difference in society.”

The River School, in Droitwich Road, Worcester, is a Christian independent school for boys and girls aged three to 16.

It was founded by Timothy Crow, who opened the school in 1985.
