AN important step in the bid to build a multi-million-pound sports village on the outskirts of Droitwich will be taken this week.

The launch of Hindlip Sports Village’s new branding, website and social media pages will coincide with a banquet and ball organised by Sir Bert Millichip Sports (SBMS), the company behind the scheme, on Friday, March 11.

Plans for the sports village include the UK’s first Sir Bobby Robson Football Academy, a 50-metre swimming pool, championship golf course and an alternative home and new academy for Worcestershire County Cricket Club.

The website, which features information about the facilities, has been designed by Redditch-based company Unique IQ and can be found at sbmshindlip.com

It will be updated daily with sports news from across Worcestershire and there will also be links to the project’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

SBMS chief executive Peter Millichip said: “The new website and social media pages will give the sports village an increased public profile.

“We hope that as many people as possible will visit the site.”

More than 400 people from across the country will attend the Worcestershire banquet and ball, a black tie function in aid of Worcester Cathedral, at Sixways Stadium in Worcester.

One of the highlights will be a sports auction in aid of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation conducted by Worcestershire auctioneer and TV personality Philip Serrell.
